When it comes to mailing with Every Door Direct Mail® (EDDM®), bundling your postcards correctly is one of the most important steps. The USPS requires every bundle to have a facing slip attached—and failing to do it properly could delay your campaign.
To make it easier, we’ve created a quick under-60-second video tutorial (watch below 👇) along with this simple guide.
Why Bundling Matters
Bundling ensures your postcards are organized and ready for USPS carriers to deliver. Without the right bundle sizes and facing slips, the Post Office won’t accept your mailing. Luckily, the process is simple once you know the rules.
Step 1: Understand the Rules
-
Each bundle must contain 50 or 100 postcards (100 is the most common).
-
You need one completed USPS facing slip on top of every bundle.
-
Bundles must be separated by route.
Step 2: Example Breakdown
Let’s say you have 423 postcards for Route C009 in ZIP 23059.
-
You’ll create 5 bundles total.
-
4 bundles will have 100 postcards each.
-
1 bundle will have the remaining 23 postcards.
-
That means you’ll need 5 facing slips—one for each bundle.
Repeat this process for every route you’re mailing to.
Step 3: Secure and Label
-
Use rubber bands to hold each bundle tightly.
-
Place the facing slip on top of the bundle.
-
Double-check that the route number and bundle count match your paperwork.
Step 4: Drop Off Your Mail
Bring your completed bundles, paperwork, and payment to the Post Office listed in your USPS order confirmation. Once you drop them off, your campaign is officially in motion—and your postcards will soon be arriving in every targeted mailbox.
